It will be a downward spiral of damage if we take the SAI route. Yet people will consider any alternative that seems easy and let’s us continue our long-standing relationship with fossil fuels.

That relationship is due to expire after an upward spiral of expense as the resource becomes more rare and more contested. I think we should bite the bullet now and invest the money in developing various renewable energy sources tied to much improved electrical-storage technologies. I’m sure we can do it if we invest the sort of money and effort we have invested in other energy sources such as fossil fuels and nuclear energy.

We have faced monumental challenges before and fought through them (ozone-thinning, escape from leaded gas, defeating most acid rain issues, etc.) … but not by procrastination and by diverting ourselves with destructive side-steps as SAI will be.
