You mentioned deregulation; it’s a major talking point among cons, and it’s one that I’m opposed to, have been opposed to all my life, it seems. Society needs regulations. So here are my arguments for having regulations.

I’m in favor of regulation because it’s necessary to save lives and to exclude or limit the ability of crooks and con-men to victimize the public.

Granted, excessive regulation is a tendency of liberal-thinking people. Today I witnessed it in a meeting of a council on which I sit as a member. We voted to accept and go forward with a proposal, and after that, some members (we’re all liberal politically) wanted to micro-manage exactly what the people we’d appointed to go forward, should do.

We just waited them out. They had their say and then we adjourned. But this does highlight the negative aspect of liberals needing to make everything “regular." It can be time consuming; it can slow things down; and depending on who’s running the meeting, it can impede progress.

Nevertheless, I’m strongly opposed to deregulation by the lunatic/crooked mob on the right side of the line. And yes, there are enough billionaires to constitute a mob.

It is clear to me that the purchase and use of Twitter (and it's loss of value) became a political donation to Trump. It may not have started that way, but that is where it was by the election of 2024. I don't see Musk's donation to Trump as $250 mil but rather tens of billions.

I think a third party is a great idea that won’t work and will ensure Republicans control the government forever. The Democratic Party needs to be taken over by its left wing, meeting the aspirations of anti-war oldsters, anti-racism whites and nonwhites, pro-women men and women and anti-fascists of all colors and creeds. The DINOs need to go the way of the RINOs - maybe the two “moderates” could form an old boys club and regale each other with stories of union-busting militarism over port and cigars.
