Okay, you’ve read the headline. That is a big, scandalous accusation. So let me be crystal clear — I am not accusing Elon Musk of any kind of grooming, sexual or otherwise. As always, we need to assume innocence until proven guilty. What I am doing is opening up the question, “Is Musk a groomer?” because there is more and more concerning information coming out of DOGE that tars Musk with this worrying brush.
Let’s first define grooming. The MET Police define grooming as “when a person builds a relationship with a child, young person or an adult who’s at risk so they can abuse them and manipulate them into doing things. The abuse is usually sexual or financial, but it can also include other illegal acts.” This is why I consider many recruitment pushes by the military to be grooming, as they purposely target young and vulnerable people who can be manipulated to fit a legally questionable military doctrine.
Grooming in and of itself isn’t a crime. But grooming someone to do something illegal for you is.
So, what evidence is there to suggest Musk could be grooming? Well, DOGE.
By now, you have probably heard of the 19–24-year-olds spearheading Musk’s DOGE. David Sacks, a venture capitalist close to Musk, described DOGE as “full of young coders.” Joe Rogan has called them “young wizards.” Wired and other outlets have even identified the six young, inexperienced men in critical roles in DOGE. All six have little to no experience in government, administrative, or leadership roles, or even in corporate change management. They are all graduate coders who either knew Musk from X, have just started working for one of Musk’s companies, or, more worryingly, have just begun working for Palantir, Musk’s friend and fellow fascistic tech bro Peter Thiel’s dodgy spy data analytics company.
These youngsters are literally on the front lines of DOGE, directing how departments will be divided up. There are reports of one of these youngsters, a 19-year-old, conducting 15-minute interviews with federal employees, where they have to “justify their existence” before determining if they should be fired. This was apparently at the direct behest of Musk, who called for 50% of the agency to be axed.
So why does this matter?
Musk has run several multi-billion-dollar companies for a while now. He will know some of the most right-wing libertarian corporate change managers and administrators in the world, who are just as bloodthirsty for cuts as he is and who can do a far better job of it than these graduates. For one, they actually have the experience to know who to keep and who to let go, as well as ensuring the teams left can function, or give the perception of functioning, after the cuts. On top of that, they have the legal experience to know how to undertake this task without risking significant legal repercussions. Also, to be blunt, they can do it far more efficiently. They don’t need to conduct arduous one-on-one interviews to understand how an organisation works; they can do it through spreadsheets and management consultation.
I thought this whole inane DEI scare (which is complete bullshit, by the way) was to return America to a meritocracy. Yet Musk is using inexperienced children from an entirely different industry in place of deeply experienced professionals. Why?
That isn’t a rhetorical question; it’s the core of the entire article. Why has Musk chosen such inexperienced people to perform such a critical job for his political aims?
I have only been able to figure out two possible answers.
Firstly, Musk’s intentions aren’t actually to deliver genuine workable cuts. Instead, he wants to gut and damage beyond repair as many arms of the US government as possible and then let them bleed out. He has spoken many times about wanting to increase the birth rate (which is a demonstrably false Nazi talking point, by the way), and, in his mind, the only way to do that is to increase the stress in the general populace and decrease education levels. Destroying as much of the US government as possible would not only generate this stress and ignorance, but it would also, by proxy, deregulate all the industries in which Musk operates, allowing him to finally sell his dangerous self-driving cars and launch his faulty rockets more often. Indeed, the “fraud” and “corruption” DOGE has discovered and cut out of the federal government are not fraud or corruption, but badly framed US international soft power, private corporations scalping, or just transparent misinformation to cover up the questionable cuts.
In this case, he doesn’t need well-thought-out or even efficient workers in DOGE. He just needs maximum damage, and these young tech-bro thugs can certainly deliver on that.
The second answer is that no one with the proper experience would dare take this job. It would not just be career suicide but could very well land them in jail for a long time.
DOGE is openly breaking the law. Its bypassing of Congress breaks the Constitution. It isn’t giving due process to these cuts or layoffs. It is illegally stopping federal employees from accessing their buildings. It is illegally trying to access US citizens’ sensitive personal details and records. Musk’s conflict of interest as someone who has been given billions of dollars in US subsidies makes his running of DOGE with no oversight highly illegal. They are even illegally operating servers in government buildings and using unencrypted emails, leading to a severe cybersecurity risk — something that Trump once wanted to jail Hillary Clinton for doing.
This isn’t an exhaustive list. We haven’t even covered the legal ramifications of the impact of damaging these federal bodies. Let’s not forget that Musk has cut funding for care for children with cancer! Almost every aspect of DOGE contradicts US law and the values the nation was founded on.
And it doesn’t matter if Musk is doing it for either reason or both. He would need to find people willing to participate in this highly illegal, ineffective, and outright immoral work. His industry experts would likely say no; they have a better understanding of the legal risks this kind of job would create and might also heavily disagree with the extent of the cuts Musk is pushing, as they have the empathy not to hurt people so brazenly. What’s more, Musk ideally needs these people to spread misinformation about these cuts to paint them as more significant and more legitimate than they actually are, which industry professionals simply wouldn’t do.
So, where else could he turn?
Maybe to young, impressionable boys working at his companies. Or even those he has connections to through X. He has a significant position of power over them; it would be effortless for Musk to groom them to do his bidding in DOGE with no moral, legal, or expert objections to his plans, as they don’t have the experience or awareness to raise them. What’s more, if there is a legal backlash, Musk can always use them as fall guys.
If this is what Musk has done, it meets the definition of grooming and displays a severely unethical overreach of power on his part.
But why does that matter? There are more pressing issues with Musk and Trump. For one, they seem to be pushing multiple genocides!
I completely agree. Much of the US and the world is currently in firefighting mode, trying to mitigate the damage created by Trump’s administration. But grooming is often not an isolated incident. It exposes a far worse behaviour pattern permeating that person’s entire life. There is a reason it is such a serious accusation. As such, just asking the question, “Is Musk a groomer?” and following that line of thought could be a crucial key to unmasking Musk and exposing why he is this way. Considering how Musk and Trump have only been able to get to where they are thanks to demonstrably inaccurate public images, such an unmasking could be essential to the health of the US and the West’s democracy.
But I am not equipped to answer the question, “Is Musk a groomer?”. I do not have conclusive evidence, the means to get it, nor the legal backing to levy such an accusation into the world. What I can do is ask the question and hope those who can answer it will.

Regardless of what the correct answer to your question is, I wonder how the whole US public service can tolerate the wrongdoings of this villain. Is the whole Congress out of notion, will and/or power? Aren't even most republicans aware of the minimal rules of the art? Or, what even worse, are they completely swallowed by the Mammon and made dazzled to the obvious fact that this insane fury will also turn over the very grounds of their wealth, too?
I strongly hope the the once glorious USA quickly recovers from this icy dream and puts these rogue scandrels to the place they deserve.
